Author Biography

Rebecca Counts Kahila, born in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, is the fifth child of eight children born to a school teacher and a miner. She is a two-time graduate of Virginia Tech with degrees in English and Educational Leadership. In her career as an educator, she has focused on creating positive learning environments for all students in K-12 public schools. She is mother of three and grandmother to 5.5 as of June 2016. She loves the musicality of the language of Appalachia and tries to bring some of that sound to her writing.She looks forward to sharing more children's books that reflect her heritage and lessons she has learned throughout life. She hopes her simple stories bring joy to all who read them.
