The book of Proverbs was written to develop skillful living and thinking. Its wisdom will benefit the inexperienced as well as the mature. The title of the book comes from Proverbs 3:18 where the father urges his son to pursue wisdom saying, "She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her." The commentary opens with an explanation of the long lectures of the father to his son. Then each of the short proverbs are grouped together in common topics. This commentary covers the entire book of Proverbs.

Author Biography

David Melin has been a pastor in Minnesota for more than 30 years and an adjunct professor in Ukraine for nearly 20 years. The author wrote the commentary with two audiences in mind. As a pastor, he wrote the commentary to make the book of Proverbs understandable to his church family. And as an adjunct seminary professor in Ukraine, he wanted to provide the Russian-speaking church with a much-needed commentary on Proverbs. The book was first published in Ukraine for the Russian-speaking church, and is now available in English.
